Above and Beyond in Sedona

"Walking on air" is an apt description for a couple in love. Imagine the exhilaration of actually flying in to your wedding!

Arriving via helicopter, our bride and groom experience a soft landing among the vineyards at Alcantara Vineyards & Winery in spectacular Sedona. The newly constructed Vineyard Chapel, replete with regal bell tower and blooming roses, awaits the happy couple.

Set at the confluence of Oak Creek and the Verde River, Alcantara is quickly becoming established as a destination winery. According to Barbara Predmore, proprietor, the soil in the Verde Valley is similar to that in the winemaking regions of France and Italy.

While the development of Alcantara may be a dream come true for Predmore, couples seeking the romance of a vineyard wedding will realize dreams of their own here. The grounds are luscious with fruit, picturesque rows of vines, and Tuscan-style architecture. The setting is ripe for a gorgeous wedding party.

Vineyard Chapel, complete with sanded plank seating and charming archways, is an ideal place to exchange vows. A rustic farmhouse, which doubles as a tasting room for the vineyard's outstanding wines, sits just beyond the vines.

The Vineyard Lawn is set for a reception featuring luxurious natural elements blended with sparkling mercury glass and silver by the event specialists at Events by Show Stoppers. A natural arch heralds the arrival of the couple, complete with custom monograms on each side.

The reception features bountiful, nature-inspired table settings which include antique urns, bouquets of orchids, natural grasses and even stalks of Brussels sprouts. A trio of wine corks serves as an inventive place card holder, while the guests' escort cards are cleverly displayed on a vintage window shutter.

As the sun goes down on the wine country, strings of lights above the vineyard illuminate the celebration.

The Shoot:
Inspired by a Red Rock Helicopter tour which set down among the vineyards at Alcantara, this shoot was designed from beginning to end by Judi "JB" Bloomfield of Sedona Luxury Weddings & Events. Says Judi, "I was amazed how beautiful and exciting this experience was!" It was only a matter of time before the event planner was researching this type of luxe 'arrival' for other brides and grooms in Sedona. "With the combination of [Alcantara's] 82 acres and luscious wines, and the helicopter service . . . it was a perfect idea for a unique Sedona destination photo shoot."
